This painting depicts the region where I live in the month of May when the poppies come out in masses and create red carpets under the olive trees.
Technically it has a vibrant opalescent sky obtained from a classical XVII and XVIII technique of painting on a reddish or reddish-brown ground. It is also entirely painted with the palette knife.
